An important lesson that I learned from this book is that even though things look bad they may get better. i think this because at the begging of the book Syvia was really scared to be in the ghetto and to be killed and at the end of the book she became really brave and was able to help her family at the time of the bombing. I said the word may because obviously the situation did not get better for all the Jews many were killed.Also, i think this book theme is that things may get better because in the book when Syvia and her dad had to lay in the cemetery thing looked like they were going to be killed but in the end they made it back to there home safe. 

book Club Favorite Character

           The book I am reading in book clubs is Yellow Star by Jennifer Roy. the character I would like to meet is Dora. In this book Dora is Syvia big sister in this story. I would like to meet Dora because she is a great big sister and she is the kind of big sister i would really want to be. She is always there for Syvia and i think Dora is a  really big reason why Syvia made it through the Holocaust. I picture Dora as tall with brown hair and brown eyes,. she was someone who was very confident but lost it all when she was moved into the Ghetto and i think a lot of the time she took on the role as Syvia's mother figure when her mother couldn't be there  physically and mentally for her. Some way ways she help was on page 42 When she said ""Shhhhh...,"she whispered "come with me." I climb over Mother careful not to kick Papa, and stumble behind Dora over to her bed." in the book she did this because she was afraid that she was gone like their family friend Hava. Another example is on page 40 when Syvia woke up from being passed out Dora was by her side waiting for her. She gave her water and did all the things that a mother should, but instead it was her because their mother couldn't.  Also, i would like to meet Dora because she is not afraid to do what is best for her family even if she has to lie. For example, on page 14 it says,"Dora has to lie about her age to get work."This tells me that she really wants for her family to do the best they can and she will do anything for it to happen.for these reasons i think Dora would be the one I would want to meet.

My favorite character ever would have to be Kendra in the Fablehaven series. Kendra is my favorite character because she is truly a heroine and is really inspiring to me. She changed through out the whole series starting out as a shy, quite girl who was stuck at her grandparents house over the summer into a girl who wasn't afraid to risk her life to save fable haven. i remember at the begging of the book all Kendra wanted to do was go home she wasn't happy to be there at all. Also I can remember that at the end of the book she saved everyone from the plague and was crowned the queen. i think i related to Kendra because she saved her brother Seth multiple times. i have always wanted to be brave enough to be able to save my sister more even stick up for them in a fight. i think Kendra really helped me get confidence throughout reading the series.
